As a women ages, she may become unhappy with the appearance of her breasts if they have sagged as a result of pregnancy, weight loss, or other factors. The procedure is performed by restoring the nipple and areola (the pink skin surrounding the nipple) to a higher position, restoring the breast tissue to a higher level, removing excess skin from the lower portion of the breast and then reshaping the remaining breast skin. A variety of incision patterns are possible, depending on the correction needed. In most cases, breast and nipple sensation can be preserved, using any of these breast lift techniques.
