Thanks to Latin American influences, where more emphasis is placed on the hips, more American women are asking about buttocks augmentation. Many mention singer-actress J. Lo's figure and ask for curvy, rounder buttocks.
In most cases, butt augmentation is performed by taking fat from where you have some to spare, cleaning and purifying it, and then carefully injecting the fat cells into and through layers of the buttocks. Usually, between 300 and 800cc's of fat cells are required to create a more curvaceous derriere.
However, if the patient does not have enough fat to donate, he or she may be a candidate for silicone buttocks implants.
Implants and fat transfer procedures require the patient to be under general anesthesia. The operation takes about two hours to complete and is usually performed in the doctor's operating suite which is on the premises. After the procedure, we ask the patient to refrain from sitting for one to two weeks. After that, she must sit on pillows until completely healed.
Another technique that adds more roundness, shape and curve to the buttocks is performing liposuction to the area just above and below the buttocks.
Patients who have lost 100, 150 or more pounds, usually through bariatric surgery, often undergo body shaping, along with a buttocks lift and augmentation. The procedure removes excess, hanging skin from the gluteal area, resulting in a more round and uplifted rear end.
At Cosmetic Surgery Associates of Westchester, we have a long history of performing butt augmentation surgery.
