The SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) is a layer of tissue that covers the deeper structures in the cheek area. A facelift lifts and repositions the SMAS as well as the skin, and also tightens other tissues beneath the skin to restore a youthful neck and jawline.

A Mini Facelift And A Weekend Facelift

Some of Dr. Beran’s younger patients choose a less extensive “mini facelift” to avoid early jowls and to restore the original contour of their neck and jaw line from their younger years. For others, the “weekend facelift” is also an option.
